I heart Toronto...
OLDIE BUT A GOODIE
About five years ago, my dream was to move to the U.S., become a famous writer and eventually meet a brotha with a sexy southern drawl. I would raise his badass kids and become American.
Well, I've grown up in that time, and my thoughts of leaving Toronto have diminished. The day has actually come when I am now able to appreciate the little things that make Toronto, Toronto. It may not be the prettiest place on earth, or the most fun for that matter, but there are things indicative of Toronto that I could not live without.
Instead of giving you my personal opinion on why I love the city, we at Happygrrls will shed some light on some of the cool things that the city has to offer.
In this special issue we will inform new and old Torontonians alike, visitors, or anyone contemplating on living in the T-Dot, about a bunch of places and things that we love about Toronto. Check out the spots that we like to chill and have a few drinks at, where we love to shop, and most importantly, where we like to go to get our party on.
Fear not, we have also included our regular sections. In our How-To section, Christine has provides some valuable information on how to become a young hot star for those divas-in-training.
In our Arts section, Christine and I share with you our opinion on two of the hottest CDs to be released this year - Hoobastank's The Reason, and Kanye West's The College Dropout.
Our Beauty and Fashion section is chock-full of information on getting the season's hottest looks, trying new cosmetics, and as always, Phan imparts her words of wisdom in her Dear Shopaholic column.
Of course, we can't forget our featured writers - check out Noa's interview with hot up-and-coming entrepreneur Amie Heenan. Also, going abroad has never been easier with Meredith's handy guide.
So grab a cup of hot chocolate, put on your fluffy slippers and enjoy the latest issue of Happygrrls!

The battle is on!
Welcome to another issue of Happygrrls!
Guess what??? Happygrrls is one whole year older! Yep, we've hit another milestone in Happygrrls history. We proudly celebrated our 2nd anniversary this past April. Oh no, we haven't forgotten about you! To commemorate this fantastic occasion, we have yet another fun contest for all our loyal readers to enter. Click here for details.
Besides it being our anniversary issue, we wanted to include the fellas in on our fun. And so, the Battle of the Sexes issue was born. We requested the help of guys and gals so that we could better understand the differences and similarities between the sexes. We created our first ever Relationship Survey, and we've included your answers to those age-old questions that have plagued daters for years. Like, "After you get a phone number, how long should you wait before you use it?" and "How long should you wait before that pivotal first date kiss?"
Our issue also contains articles on the chick flicks that pull at our heartstrings, the guy movies that bring out our macho side, and we also inform you about a few bath products for guys and girls to enjoy.
And of course, we couldn't have a Happygrrls issue without including our regular columns. Don't forget to read what events we suggest to do on a first date in our Recommends section, we also list the must-haves from A-Z in the What's Hot column, and Christine and Bee speak about their relationship in the Dating Diary.
Sounds like a lot of info, no? Well, get comfy, turn on your A/C, adjust your computer chair and enjoy our latest issue!

Happy New Year!
How are my grrls doing in 2004? Are you sad to see 2003 come to a close, or are you ready to start fresh this year?
Personally, I'm ready to get my hustle on and start new projects. But before I do that, it would be fitting to take a reflective look back at the past 365 days.
2003 was some year, huh? Remember the SARS hysteria, the blackout, fires in Southern California and British Columbia, the mad cow scare, and the countless other things that made you think that the end of the world was upon us?
During all the turmoil, there were a few shining moments in the world of entertainment that made it an unforgettable year. If you've never heard of 50 Cent, Beyoncé, The White Stripes, Coldplay, Paris and Nicole, or that little movie called Lord of the Rings, you are either living under a rock, or still living in 2002.
In this issue, we include our Annual Readers' Poll, and YOU let us know who you thought was all that in 2003, and who wasn't worth your time. Take a look at who you thought had the best music video, and who was the most overrated celebrity.
Because we love to give our two cents on everything, we provide you with our answers to the poll, and we also give you a list of our picks for the best and worst singles of the year. Don't miss our picks for Man of the Year.
For those who are looking for a change this year and want to learn new things, read the articles on how to use Feng Shui, how to make your relationships work, and how to start your job search.
Seems like a lot of great stuff, eh? Well you deserve it.
Enjoy the issue!
