Retro Books:
Anne of Green Gables, Lucy Maud Montgomery
ANNE OF GREEN GABLES
My favourite books have always been the Anne of Green Gables series by Lucy Maud Montgomery. I first heard about Anne of Green Gables in the third grade when my teacher mentioned the airing of the TV movie.
So, I caught the movie…and I loooved it.
I fell in love with Anne Shirley. She was this little orphan who had so much spirit and imagination. Throw in a little romance, and I was hooked.
Soon after seeing this movie, I went out and started reading the books. I would get lost in these books. I guess I'm a big daydreamer just like Anne. I admired Anne for her spirit, especially since she had been given so little in life. She lit up the lives of her adopted guardians, Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert, and her best friend, Diana, as well as the entire town.
I knew Anne had Gilbert Blythe hook-line-and-sinker once he laid eyes on her. This was no wrong move when the Cuthberts decided to keep Anne rather than the boy they were expecting.
These are great books to grow up with. Read them and fall in love. ¤ Phan
