Best New Show of 2002:
The Osbournes...
DID YOU KNOW?
What do you get when you mix an aging rockstar and his foul-mouthed brood, plus MTV??? What else, but my favourite new TV show, "The Osbournes."
The basis for "The Osbournes" came from an already existing formula - televising real people doing everyday normal activities.
Since there is an influx of these so-called reality based TV shows, what makes "The Osbournes" any different???
Well, seeing as there is absolutely nothing on TV to watch, I let my curiosity get the better of me and I sat down and watched an entire episode. On the surface, I observed a very dysfunctional family use the F-word out, and talk about doing drugs, drinking and partying all night long.
Once I watched a couple more episodes, I noticed that this family was no different from most. Yes, Jack and Kelly, the kids, are spoiled little brats (especially Jack), but they act like most teenagers, meaning that the fight with each other and with their parents. Ozzy and Sharon, the parents, are very lenient and want to give their children the freedom to do what they like, but they do, at times, discipline their kids.
Being the type of girl that hates anything sappy or predictable, I was drawn to this show because it is like watching your typical sitcom. However, the problems are not necessarily solved within 30 minutes. Also, because I'm extremely immature and I easily obsess over anything new.
Ozzy is my favourite Osbourne 'cause half of the time I have no idea what he is saying and the other time he is yelling obscenities to anyone who comes in his path. But Kelly is a close second. She is, by far, the most sensitive Osbourne. Even though she has a fondness for using and abusing her dad's Gold Card, she openly shows her love for her mom and dad.
I know that this show is not for the faint of heart, but I do enjoy it. I know that I will no doubt tire of their antics, but until then, check out the second season! ¤ Michelle
