YOU WANTED TO KNOW
The Happygrrl of the Month title is given to a cool chick who exemplifies the true essence of being a Happygrrl. Which means that she possesses independence, a sense of humour and a slightly neurotic side.
Our Happygrrl of the Month is…P!nk.
P!nk rocks! Not only is she able to come off as a tough chick that will kick your ass in a New York minute, she also has a sexy side that will make any red-blooded male melt in her hands.
We were first introduced to this pink haired anti-diva with her first release, "Here We Go," from the CD Can't Take Me Home. I dug the song, but quickly dismissed her as a one hit wonder.
On her next album, M!ssundaztood, she truly showcases who she is as an artist. She can be tough yet playful, as well as being vulnerable. I also felt that it was cool to see an artist jump from genre to genre. One day she can belt out an R&B track, and the next day she can hit you off with a rock track.
She gets props for the video for the single "Get This Party Started." She was able to make fun of herself and still play it off and command everyone's attention. *Plus, who wouldn't like a wicked breakdance sequence???
The next two songs that she released, "Don't Let Me Get Me" and "Just Like A Pill," have turned me into a serious P!nk fan. Her lyrics are real and raw, and somewhat self-deprecating (but who isn't at some point?). She shows us that it is cool to be in control and headstrong, but we also need some down time to look into ourselves.
