Samantha Jones...
The Happygrrl of the Month title is given to a cool chick who exemplifies the true essence of being a Happygrrl. Which means that she possesses independence, a sense of humour and a slightly neurotic side.
Our Happygrrl of the Month is…Samantha Jones.
A friend of mine gave me the greatest compliment ever. Nah, he didn't compliment my hair, my sense of humour, or my writing for that matter. He told me that he could see me as one of the characters on "Sex and the City."
I was tripppin' off that for a good five minutes. I was elated! (Believe me, my love life is not as hot as the characters on the show. Well, it's better than Charlotte's!!!)
Not only am I completely addicted to the show (hey, even Jay-Z mentioned the show in one of his songs); I've become obsessed with one of the characters. That is why my pick for Happygrrl of the Month is Samantha Jones.
I do realize that Samantha is a fictional character (she's played by the actress Kim Cattrall), but she is the most outrageous badass chick on television. She is a powerful PR exec who does whatever and whomever she wants, and has no regrets.
I am fully aware that she is a little ho-ish (she dined at an exclusive restaurant in NYC so that she could sleep with one of the waiters), but she makes her escapades seem comical rather than slutty. Okay, they are slutty.
I especially love that she's not the stereotypical female character who wants to get married and have children. She's a grownass woman who is very confident with her sex appeal, and who looks forward to her next conquest rather than looking for commitment.
Classic Samantha Moment
When her vibrator stopped working, she actually had the nerve to return to the store and exchange it for another one. She told the sales rep that she wanted to return it because it couldn't get her off, so she needed a new one. (She's too much!) While in the store, she felt the need to educate a bunch of women about the pros and cons of each vibrator.If you haven't already experienced the "Sex and the City" phenomenon, check out the series before it ends next year! ¤ Michelle
