What's Hot:
Black is king and femininity and sophistication are key...

To all of you die-hard summer fans: I’m sorry to tell you but the fall season is upon us and with it comes a new and exciting season filled with fresh and exhilarating colours and styles.

1. Black is back and is being shown in tailored suits in beautiful, luxurious fabrics with new twists on detailing, like leather or a gathered waist.

2. Grey is back again but shown differently with male pinstriped-inspired fabrics, or with a great high-waisted pant – another must-try this season.

3. Brown is prominent this season in all hues and is being mixed with autumnal favorites like pumpkin/orange, moss green, camel, and this season’s dominant colour, plum and other purple hues like boysenberry.

4. Tweeds and boiled wool are being shown in black and brick red, one of this season’s other big colours.

5. Graphic plaids are being worn as fun and funky weekend wear, or in a great trouser for office wear. Also, textured fabrics – whether it’s in the pants, jackets, or skirts – are everywhere.

6. Dresses are back and are one of this season’s must haves. Layered or just worn on their own, sweater dressing and shaped sheaths are the two most popular styles

7. The details are of course as important as the fabrics and colours themselves. Big buttons are still a feature, and so are swing-style jackets. But the biggest trend for this season is belts. They are being paired with boxy jackets, dresses, blouses, and on trousers. You can thank the Sex and the City movie and Patricia Field for this trend.

No matter what you wear this season, just have fun. Buy a belt and try belting one of your favourite jackets. Or invest in a great new blouse with a bow detail. Remember, this season is all about being feminine, so mix and match some of your favourites from last season with some of this fall’s big trends. ¤ Erin
