In search of the perfect wallet…
PSST!
Sometimes my minimalist lifestyle (some might say cheap!) becomes a little extreme at times. Case in point: while speaking with my sister a few weeks ago, I told her that I was using the same wallet for almost seven years. What was even worse was that a few months out of those seven years, I was actually using an old hand-me-down wallet from her (in my defense, it was a beautiful albeit weathered, red leather wallet!). By the mystified and appalled look on her face, I got the feeling that she thought that I did something wrong. So after that conversation, I thought it was time to find the perfect wallet.
I will say that buying purses and wallets is not my forte. Everything is so big and bulky, which to me, looks like cargo other than something to house your money and credit cards. Being a minimalist, I like things sleek, streamlined and functional.
My pursuit for the perfect wallet became a little difficult (read: ANNOYING!). Since I am an impatient shopper, I get a little despondent when I can’t find what I’m looking for. After several attempts at the big department stores, I headed to Winners. I checked the accessories area and saw a few wallets that I liked. I saw really tiny wallets, which I adored. The only thing wrong with them was that I could only put some change and maybe one card in it. I started sifting through others and I did find a sexy gold Kenneth Cole wallet that looked like a smaller, thinner version of a clutch purse. I liked it, but wasn’t sure if I would use it. It’s different from a traditional wallet, which is good, but I decided to keep looking.
Weeks went by and I still didn’t find the wallet that truly defined me. Following a trip to the grocery store, I headed to a nearby Winners and decided to forgo my search for the wallet and look for some clothes.
I quickly perused the accessories area and I saw the same gold wallet that I saw at another location. I picked it up and went to the clothing section. After trying on a million skirts, pants and tops, I decided that the only thing that I wanted was the wallet.
I got my hot new wallet for a measly $15.00! Great price, huh?! I completely love it. I love that when I put it in my handbag it’s not bulky and does not take up that much space. It lies flat and creates a nice slick look.
This is such a fab purchase. I’m always happy when I get to reach into my purse and unveil my sexy wallet. Childish yes, but I don’t care! ¤ Michelle
