Vintage Vibe:
Summer bargains...

CALCULATE THIS!
The summer season is only three months long. However, it seems as though I tend to buy the most clothes during this time. Being a Happygrrl on a fixed income or lack of an income, I need to spend my money wisely.

For this edition of Vintage Vibe, I found three items that have summer fun and CHEAP written all over it.

Take a look:
One of the best additions to any outfit is a stylish accessory. Why not add a scarf to your summer ensemble?

I like scarves because you can wrap your hair with it, (especially if your 'do ain't being cooperative) or you can wear one around your neck and add an air of sophistication to your look. Or you can adopt an Alicia Keys look by wrapping your hair with one and wearing an old-fashion style hat.

I immediately loved this scarf because of its colour and the simple design.

Girls, can you tell me what the latest trend in summer clothing is??? No, not hoochie wear...but anything with prints on it (Indian or Oriental influenced), and the very popular hippie-inspired styles.

On my quest to follow yet another trend, I was lucky to find a skirt that was equal parts retro and equal parts affordable (damn, I'm really cheap). Amid the multitude of skirts on the racks, I found my eyes drifting to a funky skirt that I knew I wouldn't find in the local mall.

It is a mid-calf, rayon skirt that slightly flares at the bottom, which creates a very feminine look. Its lightweight fabric is also perfect to beat the summer heat. When I tried it on, I was already envisioning the endless possibilities. I could dress it down with a peasant shirt (also very in), or wear a dressy tank top to give it a sleek look.

I can't wait to slip into this skirt and create a sexy outfit and go on the town.

Why is it that I cannot leave Value Village without buying a purse?

On a day that I should have been doing something productive, (like sending out resumes or doing the laundry [or gardening, or reading to small children, or making hot dogs - Chris]) I decided that I wanted to go for a walk. Naturally, my destination led me towards the local second hand store - Value Village.

I must have gone on a great day because there were TONS of items to choose from. I saw a nice linen skirt for only five dollars, and several cool tank tops in every colour known to man.

But none of the finds could compare to the following find.

I dug through a series of ugly-ass bags, when I located the cutest summer straw bag. Even though there were a lot to choose from, this particular bag was especially cool because of its size (not too big and not too small), and its intricate embroidery.

This bag has not left my side since I bought it only one week ago. It complements every piece of clothing that I own, and it is always in style.

If you still need a few pieces to complete your summer wardrobe, visit your local retro and second hand stores. Happy hunting!!! ¤ Michelle
