Deal of the Month:
Me and my UGG-ly boots…
OF INTEREST
My latest deal of the month was borne out of necessity rather than fashion.
While I was slipping on my very warm and dependable winter boots for work, I noticed that the zipper was a little stuck. Trying not to lose my cool, I attempted to gingerly finagle the zipper up. I tried and I tried but the zipper wouldn’t budge. Then all of a sudden the zipper popped off and I threw my once trusty boots across the room. I begrudgingly had to resort to wearing a pair of very uncomfortable non-winter boots to work.
After a week of limping my way home and consequently soaking my aching feet in warm water, I planned to hit every shoe store in the GTA. I went to high-end stores and low-end stores, but none of these shops had boots in my size (I am a short girl with size nine feet – go figure!?). I was even scolded by an evil sales lady after I asked if she could help me find a pair of winter boots. She replied, “Winter is almost done you know!” I didn’t let her tongue lashing get to me, so I left the store and decided to venture to Payless Shoes, which was two stores away.
Yes, I know that this probably isn’t the first place that you think of when you’re looking for sturdy, warm winter boots, but I was desperate. I could no longer wear those wretched, non-winter boots again!
I walked in and saw a very UGG-inspired pair of boots on the floor. I picked them up and examined them closely. They were gray/white, faux suede boots that had fur on the sides and two long thin straps. I had no idea what they would look like on me because my attire didn’t really complement the boots (I was wearing dress pants and V-neck sweater). I tried them on, and I swear I closed my eyes. They were so incredibly comfortable! It felt like I wasn’t wearing boots at all! Even though I fell in love with the boots, I really wanted to have something that looked dressy. I told the salesperson that I had to think about it because I wanted to buy something that wasn’t that trendy.
A few more painful days had passed and I found nada. I went back to Payless and purchased a black pair of knee high boots for $39.99 (to wear with skirts), and I got the coveted Ugg-esque boots for a whopping $14.00 (it was previously $28.00!). I was lucky enough to get the first pair at regular price and the second one for half off.
These are the coolest boots that I have ever had. Not only do they solve my need for good winter boots, but also they are way too cute. They are extremely warm and they aren’t as casual as I first thought. I can wear them on my way to work (I change into my black knee high boots once I’m there) and still look professional. I wore them to work a day after I bought them and all my co-workers thought that I spent hundreds of dollars on the boots. Fooled them, huh. This is definitely a hot deal of the month! ¤ Michelle
