Paint Me:
Edible Calligraphy, Ravish and Lavish...

Like icing on a cake, body paint can add a certain extra element to your heart's desires. But it can also go terribly awry, especially if you don't have the right essentials. The first is pretty obvious: you need someone to paint on. The second is just as important, though: you need the right body paint.

That's where Edible Calligraphy from Ravish and Lavish comes in. I had several concerns about using the gooey stuff, since no one wants to get down when they're dirty and sticky. But Edible Calligraphy was a welcome change to the usual edible body oils and massage oils on the market.

The Edible Calligraphy comes in a fun bottle, and includes a small paintbrush and instructional scroll with Chinese characters on it, such as love, faith, and happiness (very romantic words to get you in the mood, for sure). My weapon of choice was mint chocolate, which also happens to be my favourite ice cream flavour, for those who were dying to know.

This was my first time using body paint, but it's easy enough and straightforward enough to play around with. Although my mother is Cantonese, I never grasped the language, and so the scroll came in handy. Otherwise, I think, I would have just started writing my name or drawing cows, which is hardly sexy.

The paint never globbed, although it did take several dips of the brush to finish a word. Also, the paint dried fairly quickly, so there were no unfortunate accidents. The scent is very light and won't linger on the skin, which is a good thing if you don't want anyone to know where you've been dipping that brush. And then came the fun part, for once I had exhausted my artistic ability, it was time to get the paint off. The mint chocolate was more mint than chocolate, but still tantalized my taste buds.

And the best part was that once the paint was off, it was off. No fuss, no muss. I reveled in that fact for days to come. Finally, an edible product that didn't leave a mess!

So, what did he think? It's safe to say that he enjoyed the paint as much as I did. ¤ C.Ho.
