A Different World (circa 1987 - 1993)
This goes down in the "What the hell was I thinking?" category.Do you remember "A Different World"? Well, do you remember the character Dwayne Wayne (Kadeem Hardison)? You know your girl had a thing for him, right? Surprise, surprise.
Okay, maybe I took my love for him a little too far. On a class trip to Canada's Wonderland back in the day, I spotted Dwayne's trademark flip up glasses in one of the gift shops. Being the impulsive and impetus girl that I am, I picked up the glasses and showed it to my friends. Before I could even take them off, I was putting down $25.00 to buy the glasses.
I loved them and I wore them everywhere. When I went out, to school and in my house. I think that I was the only person in Toronto with these glasses and the only person who actually LIKED them. A friend of mine said that even though she liked the character, she wouldn't go out and buy the glasses. (Yeah, I got dissed.) Of course I didn't take her statement to heart and continued to wear them.
Until that heartbreaking day when I was ready to go out and I could not find them. I looked over the entire house and I was unable to locate them. I couldn't believe it. I looked for an entire weekend, and sadly, I came to the realization that they were gone. (I had the glasses for less than 3 weeks!)
Even though those glasses were in no way trendy, I liked having something that no one seemed to have. True, I did look like an idiot, but I felt that much closer to my boo, Dwayne Wayne. ¤ Michelle
