Tarte Cosmetics:
I'm a saucy, tarte grrl!

I never wore makeup when I was a teenager. No mascara, no lipstick, not even eyeliner. It wasn't just the fact that my mom didn't want me to leave the house looking like a hoochie; I had absolutely no clue how to apply it. I used to struggle for hours in the bathroom to see if I could master putting eyeliner over my lid, but I always came out looking like a crazed raccoon. I ultimately gave up and wore a very natural look for the entire time that I was in high school.

It has been many, many years since I have been in high school, and believe it or not, I still get a little flustered when I have to put on anything that takes more than a minute to apply (blush is my mortal enemy). But things started to look up when Tarte Cosmetics entered my life.

Tarte Cosmetics is a user-friendly makeup line that was established in 2000. It was started to help women, who were somewhat challenged in the makeup department, to put on cosmetics with ease. Basically, they took the frustration out of makeup application and made it quick and painless.

For the girls who have sworn off makeup because you just can't apply it, go to the nearest cosmetics counter and take a look at Tarte's products. Believe me, there is a product out there for you!

Here are a few products that I had the pleasure of trying:

Double-Ended Lipgloss
Our lipglosses are back with brand-new components! You can even snap each gloss in and out so you can mix and match, or just take one half with you. Our new and improved double-ended lipglosses are available in our 15 original shades, plus five new duos.

Ohhh, their lipgloss is so sinful! It is thick, but not goopy or gooey at all. I like that the brush is not too big. It prevents you from putting too much lipgloss on and having it subsequently landing on your shirt. Another bonus is that the handle for the brush is short, which makes the lipgloss compact enough to carry in your tiniest purse.

Tarte gets kudos for providing us with two beautiful shades to play with. On one end of the lipgloss you have one colour, and on the next end you have another colour. That is a fantastic idea. Not only does it give you more options (if you get bored of one colour you have another one to use), you get two lipglosses for the price of one. That's genius.

Their lipglosses have really cool names, too. If you are a fan of old and new TV shows and literary works, you will get a kick out of some of the names. There is Cliff and Clair ("Cosby Show"), Luke and Laura ("General Hospital"), Jake and Samantha (Sixteen Candles, thanks to our hawk-eyed, movie buffed reader), Daisy and Gatsby (The Great Gatsby), and the list goes on.

I've noticed that I've been using the Cliff and Clair combo a lot. The Cliff colour is a deep, brown shade that gives me a dramatic look, especially if I wear dark eye shadow and mascara. It is a sheer hue, so it's subtle and not too gothic looking. The Clair colour is my favourite. It is a sheer pink tint that gives my lips an unbelievable glossy look, but not glossy to the point that it looks like I've scarfed down some wings. I found that when I wore this colour, it made my skin glow.

Lights, Camera, Lashes! Mascara
For all the girls who ought to be in pictures, a mascara that's worthy of a freeze frame. This lash-loving combination of carnuba and candellia wax to help extend and maintain the length of the lashes; synthetic film to form and hold the curl; and soft esters derived from olives to add volume and shine - all you need for the ultimate close up.

It's rare when a product actually does what it claims to do. (I won't say which product, but there is a mascara that claims to make your lashes really standout, but it doesn't.)

On my list of favourite cosmetic items, lipgloss is number one and mascara is a close second. It is probably the only item that can give you instant drama with a stroke of a brush.

The 3-in-1 mascara states that it will lengthen, curl and volumize your lashes. And low and behold, this mascara delivers its promise. I saw a definite difference in the length of my lashes. It actually extended my lashes before my very eyes. It also added an extra bit of oomph to the curls. It did volumize my lashes too, but I was most impressed with the way that it lengthened my lashes. For that, I will recommend this mascara to everyone that I know.

24/7 Lip Sheers
The solution for budge-proof lipstain with a kiss of color. Your lips, but better - perfect to slip into your gym or beach bag when you want a hint of color without looking overdone. Bonus: the Chapstick-like tube makes application a no-brainer.

This product caters to the women that don't want to wear a lot of makeup, but don't want to leave the house looking pasty either.

Lip Sheers look and feel like a lip balm, the only difference is that lip sheers give you a splash of colour. It's perfect for the times that you want a shot of colour, but don't see the need of downing yourself in makeup.

Lip sheers have more than one function. You can use them on your lips or you can use them as a cheek stain/blush (this product has my name written all over it!). All you have to do is simply apply your lip sheer to your cheek and work it in. In seconds you will have rosy cheeks.
