Man of 2002:
Pharrell Williams...
My choice for the Man of the Year was very easy. There was no need for me to sit and ponder on who I felt deserved this title. This brotha came to mind in a matter of seconds.
The honour goes to: Pharrell Williams.
This man embodies everything that I want and respect in a man. First of all, he's talented as hell, he's creative, and last but not least, he is dripping with bad-boy sexiness that I just can't resist!!!
You'd think that being one half of the hottest producing team, The Neptunes, would inflate his ego, but he's an average guy from Virginia who shies away from the trappings of success (read: no bling bling, bigass furs or expensive rides). He tends to sport his jeans, that hat you see in EVERY video and those oh-so-sexy tattoos.
He gets all my love for not only producing phat tracks for the likes of Jay-Z to Nelly to Ludacris and even The Backstreet Boys, he gets respect for being an artist in his own right. He is one third of the group N*E*R*D, a slightly edgier extension of The Neptunes, which allows him to express even more of his creative vision. Their sound is a blend of rock, hip-hop and alternative, basically, the kinds of music that they all grew up on. Take a listen to "Provider" and you'll see what I mean.
It's safe to assume that we will hear a lot from The Neptunes and N*E*R*D in the upcoming year, but as long as I see Pharrell's soulful eyes and that sexy swagger on my TV screen, it's all good. ¤ Michelle
