Hey Mr. DJ, Put a Record On:
Interview with Kid Carson...
Kid Carson's picture on the Kiss 92 website does not do him justice. That is the first thing I notice about the Toronto DJ when he greets us down at the radio station's lobby. The second thing I notice is that his voice is even sexier in person than it is on the radio, if that's possible. The third thing I notice, if you must know, is that he looks much younger than I originally pinned him to be.
UPDATE
As he leads us through the studio, pausing every so often to point out a cleaning cart or various signed pictures on the wall, it becomes apparent that Kid Carson is very…well, nice. And as we all know, nice is hard to come by these days. As we pass by the studio, he ushers us in to meet Tarzan Dan. It is clear, from their banter, that the two are very close. Tarzan Dan proceeds to show us the various computerized equipment, and all I can think about is, "I used to watch you on YTV…!" Apparently Phan shares the same sentiment, as she boldly blurts that out during our introductions. I take note of the windows, which take up a whole side of the wall and overlook the city. I also note that the DJs do not sit down (no cool swivel chairs in sight), and I briefly wonder if they ever get tired of standing.
Kid Carson finishes our mini-tour, which culminates in a little room in which the DJs spend their "down" time. It consists of a table on which the computer rests, a chair, and a bank of lockers against the wall. The couch against another wall, Kid Carson points out, is the same couch that they use for their star-studded interviews. We stare at it in awe for a second.
Even before we begin the interview, I can already get a sense of what Kid Carson is like. Instead of listing a whole bunch of positive adjectives here, I'll just sum it up this way: he is someone that I would definitely date. Good looks aside, he has a very charming personality; outgoing yet humble, confident yet down-to-earth. And the fact that he agreed to sit down with us earns him extra brownie points.
Finally, we begin the Q&A. Kid Carson shares with us what it' s like to work at one of the biggest radio stations in Canada, his views on Canadian music, and why he thinks his ass is his best asset.
