Places to get your hair done...
Carla's Hair Studio (738 Lansdowne Avenue)Every few months or so, I get a little tired of my signature 'do (I am known for my braids and cornrows) and I long for something different. Out of pure frustration, I called my girl Carla to hook me up with a sexy do. Since my hair is natural - no chemicals (if I didn't braid my hair I would have a monster fro) she had to "flat iron" my hair to create a sleek look. It is a temporary look that can last up to a week.
The process is slightly painfully for me at times (I got some nappy hair), but the outcome is worth it. She straightened my hair and flipped so that I had a very retro 70's look. You know I loved it!!
She deserves props because of her versatility. Not only is she able to style chemically straightened hair (which is easier), she is able to transform my everyday look into something sensual. Thanks, Carla!
Exhale Hair Salon (155 Clark Boulevard, Unit 8, Brampton)
What unemployed girl gets her hair done three times in two weeks??? You're looking at her. True, I still haven't found suitable employment, but I did find the time and money to get my 'do in order (psst - I did come close to having a garage sale to raise some cash! [Yo, I thought we were still having the garage sale? - Chris] Consequently, I have banned myself from getting my hair done for at least a month.)
Seeing as I needed to get my hair styled for friend's wedding, another friend of mine suggested that I try her stylist, Rosina.
I'm always hesitant about someone else touching my hair. That might sound slightly neurotic, but I have built up a good rapport and trust with my previous stylists (Maxine was the bomb back in the day!).
I gave in and made an appointment. Let me just say that my hair has never looked better. She created a nice, simple yet stylish 'do that had me astounded. I gave her my props and told her that I would be back very soon.
Well, I did go back and she created yet another masterpiece by twisting my hair and giving me red highlights. It was sort of a bohemian look that was similar to Free from BET's "106 and Park." Very chic!!!!
If you're a looking for a change in your appearance and want to give yourself some much needed pampering, call Rosina and let her hook it up!!! ¤ Michelle
