All About Toronto:
Places to shop...
Pacific Mall (4300 Steeles Avenue East, Markham)Just at the corner of Kennedy Road and Steeles Avenue, you'll find a place called Pacific Mall. It is filled with many small stores for shopping, bubble tea, auto, video game, and karaoke fanatics. Pacific Mall caters to the trends of Oriental culture, but is frequented by many enthusiasts looking for items not readily available anywhere else.
There are so many shops that you are likely to get lost in Pacific Mall. With rows and rows of stores that look alike, I still have trouble differentiating stores from one another. But after three years of shopping there, I'm beginning to get the hang of things.
I like the fact that most of the stores carry items that will fit someone at five feet tall and shorter. These stores carry everything from clothes and accessories from recognizable brands, to imports from the Orient, to personal designs from entrepreneurs. There's always something a little different from the everyday shopping centres, and you can start your own trend. The accessories (trinkets, purses, hats, and shoes) are cute and funky, and fun to try on.
My boyfriend actually likes visiting this mall too, on occasion. You can keep your man busy by letting him browse the car and game shops. He'll get wrapped up in the things available to "supe" up his car. And if he likes video games, he's in luck because there are many shops that carry modified game systems and copied games at a cheaper price (oh, I hope I'm not ratting anyone out).
Other notable items at Pacific Mall include:
Pacific Mall is a great place to shop if you have the money. Remember not to take the first offer - have cash handy and test your bargaining skills. Get what you want at a reasonable price. It's a nice place even to browse if you like a bit of that Oriental flavour, so stop by for a visit and maybe you'll run into me. ¤ Phan
- Sanrio, Snoopy, and Winnie the Pooh (there are stores devoted to these lovable characters)
- Sticker Pictures (picture booths that can put your face on your favourite magazine cover)
- Cell phone accessories ("supe" up your phone with coloured or blinking faceplates and antennas)
- Bubble tea (there's too many bubble tea shops to count, but Ten Ren and 168 Tea Shop are my favourite)
- Oriental Food (Chinese, Vietnamese, Japanese, and Korean…mmm, yummy…)
- Karaoke (pop star material?…keep practicing in the private rooms)
