Being in Love:
The best part of a relationship...
Contrary to popular belief, SEX is not my favourite part of a relationship. True, it is right up there on my "thank-God-I-found-a-man" list, but it didn't quite make it to the number one spot.
Ah, things don't get better than this.
Like most, I too am partial to the stage when everything is so damn right. You know that phase when your man could do no wrong - he calls all the time, when you hear his voice your heart starts to beat ten times faster than normal, and even the little annoying things that he does, you find cute. (Can you believe that I was actually fascinated by the way an ex-boyfriend snored???) But it isn't even at this stage that I value the most.
To me, the best part of a relationship is when you get to the stage when you really get to know your man and he really gets to know you. You've been through the honeymoon phase, you've encountered the problems that most couples go through, and you finally reach the point when you understand each other. You don't necessarily have to like everything that he does, but you accept him for who he is.
It is at the point that my man finds out that I am a little crazy and somewhat demanding (okay, a lot demanding), but he is also the brave soul who looks past that and loves me for me.
This comfort level allows you to get closer to one another and really get in touch with each other. One of the coolest things that I have experienced in a relationship was when I was able to communicate with my man on a non-verbal level. All I had to do was look into his eyes and know how much he cared about me (hey, stop rolling your eyes!). He didn't have to shower me with expensive gifts or take me to the finest restaurants; it's the quality time that we spent together that mattered. It could be washing the dishes together, doing groceries, or just lying in bed. It is at these moments that I get to appreciate my man, and get to know him on an emotional and spiritual level.
Yes I know that I sound like hopeless romantic (I AM!!!), but it is the simple things in life that shouldn't be overlooked.
Love, peace and happiness. ¤ Michelle
