Dear Angry Black Grrl:
No Tupac, mo' money mo' problems, just friends...
Dear Angry Black Grrl,
BIZARRO!
GOT A QUESTION?
ADVICE OF THE MONTH
I'm planning a romantic evening with my girlfriend and I told her I would cook for her. Can you tell me what the easiest meal to make is so I don't poison my girl?
D. P.Cooking is not my specialty, but I always found spaghetti an easy meal to whip up. It's a good thing that my boyfriend loves spaghetti. Romance can happen over spaghetti dinner - remember Lady and The Tramp? If that doesn't work out so well, make sure you have a tiramisu cake for dessert. Dessert's always the best part of a meal. Good luck.
Dear Angry Black Grrl,
My friend wants to be a rapper but he's got no skillz. Should I tell him to stop, or should I support his dream?
My Friend Ain't No TupacBe honest with your friend by suggesting ways that he could improve. Definitely support your friend's dream. Believing in him may have the biggest impact in his life. Just make sure that he can still pay his bills while trying to attain stardom.
Dear Angry Black Grrl,
One of my oldest and dearest friends got a new job a while ago and he's making crazy cash. Now he's acting like he's better than me. How do I tell him that he's lost his damn mind without losing a friend?
Mo' Money Mo' ProblemsWell, if you are dear friends, you can be frank with him. And, if he's not ready to come down to earth, then he has lost a friend. Let him know that his attitude is hurting your feelings. I hope he understands and can take your feelings into consideration. That's what a real friend should be doing, respecting you.
Dear Angry Black Grrl,
I'm totally frustrated and fed up with my job. I hate it for many reasons, but my biggest complaint is that my boss' girlfriend works with him. My co-workers and I noticed that she gets preferential treatment - she comes to work late and leaves early, and she gets a day off whenever she wants. What can I do? I really want to beat the b!@% down, but I don't want to lose my job over it. What should I do?
L. J.I think this situation calls for a class action. One person might be singled out by your boss if he/she dares to bring up the situation regarding workplace inequality, but if you all work together then your boss will have to face the music. But do remember to bring it up in a professional manner.
Dear Angry Black Grrl,
I have a friend who's been by my side for as long as I can remember. But since I've turned down his recent advances, he's not calling me anymore. When we do talk, he's rude and childish to me. Should I tell him off or work on the friendship? Please help me, grrl!!!
S. I.Rejection is always hard to deal with. Let him know that you didn't want to hurt his feelings and that you will always be a friend to him. Give him some time to get over the pain. Once he's ready, you two can start rebuilding your relationship. ¤ Phan
